Automation Engineer
Drive automation and digital manufacturing performance across a modern Lumber operation.
About the role
As the Automation Engineer, you will be at the forefront of industrial automation and digital manufacturing across the Lumber Division. As part of the Business Improvement team, you will deliver safe, reliable automation solutions that directly support operational reliability, continuous improvement, and capital investment across the Napier and Otago sites.
You will own the automation lifecycle end to end, from opportunity identification and feasibility through to commissioning and optimisation, applying PLC, SCADA, Ignition, and digital manufacturing systems to deliver practical automation improvements and lead or support capital projects that meet performance, safety, and compliance standards.

About you
You are an industrial automation and controls specialist with a strong technical foundation, able to deliver reliable solutions in safety focused manufacturing environments.
You will bring:
A tertiary engineering qualification in automation, control systems, software, or similar
Strong industrial automation experience (3+ years preferred)
Experience with PLC, Ignition or modern SCADA systems
Project delivery or project management experience
Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
